Bengaluru, November 3, 2026: Rise Against Hunger India (RAHI) engaged more than 10,000 people through community programmes, awareness campaigns and volunteer initiatives across its programme locations during Hunger Action Month in October.
The month-long observance brought together volunteers, farmers, Self-Help Groups (SHGs), students and community members through activities promoting food security, nutrition awareness, dietary diversity and sustainable food systems. Key initiatives included packaging one lakh meals, nutrition education, health camps, farmer engagement and public awareness campaigns.
As part of a Packathon, RAHI teams and volunteers across its offices packaged one lakh meals. Nutrition awareness camps on food diversity and consumption reached more than 1,500 people, while nutrition education sessions engaged over 3,200 students and community members. Activities for children, including drawing competitions, quizzes and art events, also formed part of the campaign.
A Seed Festival brought together 1,200 farmers and SHG representatives to highlight the importance of seed diversity, traditional agricultural knowledge and locally adapted crops in strengthening food security and building resilient food systems.
The campaign also included community health camps, sanitation and handwashing awareness drives, and street plays on maternal and child health and nutrition. Walkathons were organised to encourage public participation and raise awareness about hunger.
In another initiative, the Chef's Showdown brought together partner organisations, which prepared recipes using Rise Against Hunger India meals, demonstrating different ways of incorporating food assistance into diverse meal preparations.
The organisation works through four programme areas: Nourishing Lives, Empowering Communities, Responding to Emergencies and Growing the Movement. Rise Against Hunger India is an independent Indian nonprofit organisation working to address hunger and food insecurity. Its programmes focus on food and nutrition security, community empowerment, emergency response and mobilising individuals and institutions to support efforts towards ending hunger.
